Jesus rose from the dead on the first Sunday following the feast of Passover. Catholic and western Christians now use the Gregorian calendar to find the date of Easter. However, some Orthodox churches celebrate Easter Day on a different day because they still use the old Julian Calendar which is now 13 days behind the Gregorian calendar and also a different moon to calculate from.
Under the Gregorian system, the holiday can actually fall in March, which would not happen under the Julian-based method of calculating Easter.

The Egyptians had one based on the movement of the sun, which was passed on through the Romans and Christian culture to become the modern world’s standard.
